"The name of the Kazan artist Yevgeny Golubtsov (1949-2021) is well-known not only in Russia but far beyond its borders. His vibrant and original artwork has become an integral part of contemporary global art. Despite participating in numerous projects outside the Republic of Tatarstan and even abroad, Golubtsov always remained deeply connected to the artistic life of Kazan, playing a significant role in shaping the direction of new art in the last decade of the 20th century," said Yevgeny Zhudrov.
In celebration of the artist’s 75th anniversary, the exhibition "The Book of Life. Yevgeny Golubtsov" opened at ES Gallery, accompanied by the release of an album showcasing the artist's creative journey through 531 reproductions. The album, available for purchase at the gallery, is aimed at anyone with an interest in contemporary art.
One notable feature of the exhibition is the inclusion of the painting Oval Physique 1 (1990), which was part of Golubtsov's first solo exhibition held in a then-closed cathedral in Sviyazhsk, dedicated to the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow".
